Alt(ernative), Power Search engine is an internet search engine, committed to bringing you the best search experience. Alternative and akin to Google, which it's based on, just somewhat better—the interface is slightly clunkier and more verbose. We hope you like it!

Alt-Power Search Power-Search Features

Alt-Power Search follows a similar advanced search operator syntax as Google, namely:

Placeholder `{query}` stands for the user's full search query, and other placeholders are reasonably named. Use these power searching query modifiers and techniques to improve the quality of your results.
Most useful search operators
Search query format	Examples	Explanation
`"{query}"`	`"rat terrier"`	Exact match, word order and character spacing and all.
`-{query}`	`Steve -Jobs`	Minus sign (`-`) just before any negative words (irrelevant for the query).
`{query1} OR {query2}`	`(Wordpress OR Joomla) guide`	Use `OR` to find any of several options. Surround with parentheses if using other keywords.
`ext:{file_extension}`	`ext:pdf boletus`	Search only among file types / files with extension.
`site:{domain}`	`site:gov memes` `site:cz.wikipedia.org`	Limit search results to a specific website or domain.
Additional / convenience operators
`{from}..{to}`	`10..35 kg` `$10..$120` `2010..2011`	To define the search range, put two full stops (`..`) between the low and high numbers, trailing with an optional unit of measurement. This can be used for product prices and publication dates.
`after:{date}`	`after:2001-09-11`	Show results discovered after the specified date (in ISO 8601 date format: YYYY-MM-DD).
`before:{date}`	`before:2020-03-12`	Show results discovered before the specified date (in ISO 8601 date format).
`intitle:{keyword}` `allintitle:{query}`	`allintitle:Index of`	Show only results where the keyword (or the whole query) is contained in HTML `<title>` text.
`intext:{keyword}` `allintext:{query}`	`ext:java intext:executeUpdate`	Show only results where the keyword (or the whole query) appears in the page main article text.

Programatic Search Access

Alt-Power Search can be configured to return search results proactively (at initiation), by setting the ?q= search query parameter when constructing the URL. You can add this search engine to your web browser, such as Firefox (simply right-click on the location bar) or Google Chrome (and thus Microsoft Edge, Brave, Opera & Vivaldi), by setting the search URL field to /?q=%s .

Alt-Power Search is generously powered by Programmable Search Engine (Google CSE). Alt-Power Search Engine itself is open-source software. See its source code simply by right-clicking on the website, selecting View Page Source item from the menu. This is the whole source code. Everything else is Google CSE.
